Introduction to printmaking


This course provides an initial route into printmaking and is aimed at all those interested in learning the traditional techniques of this artistic discipline. Based on three modules, the course offers the opportunity to experiment with relief, intaglio and lithography techniques.


The objective is to provide participants with a simple introduction to the principles of creating a print, using the basic techniques of traditional printmaking practice. This provides an understanding of the requirements of each techniques and some of the visual effects that can be achieved with each. The modules are:


I .- Linocut printing

II .- Monotype and drypoint

III.- Lithography


Each module lasts three hours and they may be taken together or individually.


These courses are ideal for young people and adults with no experience of printmaking. An interest in drawing is a bonus.


These sessions take place on Saturdays between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
