Moku Hanga Courses
A practical and theoretical course teaching the basic principles of creating a moku hanga, a woodblock print in the Japanese tradition. During the course students will learn how to prepare the blocks of wood for carving, to plan how to draw or paint an image suitable for the moku hanga technique, and how to transfer this image to the wood blocks for carving. They will be instructed in correct use of chisels, how to make their own bamboo brushes, prepare the rice-based fixative, prepare the inks and make the print following Oriental tradition.
Duration: 20 hours in five sessions.
